Dr. Senanu Kwesi Djokoto, The Deputy Director of Health in charge of Public Health in the Volta region has confirmed that 28 persons out of a total of 34 Covid-19 patients in the region have recovered.

Confirming the news to Starr News’ Faisel Abdul-Iddrisu, Dr. Djokoto indicated that the region as of Monday 11 had 34 cases but 15 of such persons have recovered and discharged while 13 others are waiting for the result of a last test to be discharged in the next 48 hours.

“so following from these activities, the Volta region has recorded 34 positive cases of the Covid-19 pandemic. But I as I speak, 15 of these people have recovered and discharged, while 13 more of them are expected to be discharged in the next 48 hours if they pass their last negative test -that would bring our total recoveries to 28 and 6 more active cases,” he stated.

The recoveries according to Dr. Djokoto is a moral booster for health workers and the people of the Volta region at large.

“This is very important because it helps to boost the psychology of the people and of the health workers because these are people who are living in some restrictive and inconvenient situations and so they need to know that their efforts are yielding good results; it encourages them,” he added.

Dr. Djokoto however added that, “we still have some few challenges especially at our transport terminals and our markets. When you go around town, you’ll realize that despite the education, people are still not wearing the nose masks.

The public would have to know that the virus is in to stay maybe longer than they thought and therefore, we should all be adjusting to what we call the new normal, there is going to be a new way of doing things unless until a vaccine is found for the pandemic.”

Dr. Djokoto intimated that there is the need to intensify the educational campaign to ensure a social behavioural change towards the adherence to the Covid-19 protocols.
