Covid-19 claims one more Malaysian

KUALA LUMPUR 24 MARCH 2020. KUALA LUMPUR: Another Malaysian has succumbed to Covid-19, bringing the death toll in the country to 17.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 17th fatality was a 66-year-old, who had suffered from several chronic diseases.

“The patient started showing symptoms a week before being admitted to the Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital in Muar, on March 20.

“Upon arrival at the emergency department, the patient was in critical condition and needed to be given respiratory assistance.”

Dr Noor Hisham said the patient tested positive for Covid-19 on March 21, and was pronounced dead at 4.10am this morning.

He added that the patient’s cause of infection was still being determined.

“We extend our condolences to the patient’s family.”
