Step by step guide to apply for American Visa Lottery Program DV-2023

The Diversity Visa Program (DV Lottery) is congressionally mandated and allows up to 55,000 persons from nations that are historically under-represented in terms of migration to the United States of America to qualify each year for immigrant visas which are also known as Green Cards.
The program is called the “Green Card Lottery” or “DV Lottery” because the winners are determined through a random drawing from among the 10–12 million people who enter each year worldwide.
The US is proud to be a country of immigrants. However, far more people are coming to the USA from certain countries than from others. For example, just those immigrating from Mexico, China, and the Philippines are by far outnumbering those from most of the other countries accumulated. In order to maintain diversity in the population, US laws regulate immigration from particular regions of the world.
For this reason, the USA has been randomly distributed 55,000 so-called Green Cards in the DV Lottery every year since 1994.

The State Department Web site for the 2023 Diversity Visa Program (DV-2023) is now open. The entry submission period for DV-2023 is from 12:00PM EDT (GMT -4) on October 6, 2021 to 12:00PM EST (GMT -5) on November 9, 2021. The entry form will only be available for submission during this period and this period only. Entries will NOT be accepted through the U.S. Postal Service.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DV-2023 PROGRAM
- VALID TRAVELLERS PASSPORT ID
- PASSPORT PICTURE in accordance with the US Requirement, follow the link below to read on examples of both acceptable and unacceptable photos to submit with your visa application. Keep in mind the basics: size, expression, head position, background, print quality, and anything that might obscure the face (hair, shadows, glare on glasses, etc). The DV program comes in six(6) steps, Which are listed in the image below;
This article will guide you through step one to successfully submit an entry.
BEFORE WE PROCEED WITH THE SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES, REMEMBER TO FOLLOW THE PASSPORT PICTURE RULES SET OUT ON THE STATE WEBSITE OR USE THE U.S PASSPORT AND VISA PHOTO TOOL via https://tsg.phototool.state.gov/photo
Now Let’s Begin with the process;
Step 1: Visit the DV program website via https://dvprogram.state.gov/
Step 2: Proceed to click on the green button “Begin Entry“
Step 3: Type in the authentification characters provided on the state website in the space provided beneath the characters and submit. Kindly make sure you type it correctly or click the button above the audio favicon that looks like a refresh button for the next character or click on the audio button for the spellings.
Step 4: Type in your name, if you do not have a middle name or first name-check the box below the field to make it inactive
Continue to Fill in the rest of the information and thoroughly read the instructions above and below each field.
if your country of birth is the same as your country of Eligibility just check the “Yes” box
Fill in details on your passport that are required on the website and do not make any mistakes.
Step 5: Click on the Choose New Photo to select your picture location and pick the required passport photograph as explained above under requirement.
Provide your Mailing list which includes, care of (The name of the person who will receive the letter for you, it can be yourself or through someone) e.g Care of Yogo Saqcex, Plus233 Ghana, PMB, Accra. it means I do not have an address myself, My brother Yogo saqcex works at Plus233 so I used his work address, anytime a letter is sent to me through his work address the letter should be under the care of or given to my brother Korsi Saqcex at Plus233.

Step 6: Enter the number of children you have in the box, and click continue. Be sure every data provided is accurate.
Step 7: A summary page will appear after clicking continue, Review the summary page to make amendments, and if possible, to make amendments click “Go Back to Part 1” button at the bottom navigate backward.
Step 8: If you are sure that all information is correct, you can now proceed to submit the entry by clicking the submit button
Step 9: Congratulations you have successfully submitted an entry for DV-2023. Click on the print button at the top right corner of the DV program website.
Kindly take note of the following; Confirmation Number, Entrant Name, and year of birth. Click on the “Print” button at the top right corner to print or save the confirmation slip.
