Aside from the murky pools of water dirty brushes leave behind, the most annoying thing about cleaning your makeup tools is that it’s a time consuming task.

If you are due to give your brushes a scrub soon and are already dreading it, you may be interested to learn about this handy cleaning hack.

Scottish beauty blogger and influencer Jamie Genevieve shared a very simple tip to get your brushes sparkling clean in a matter of seconds – all you need is a particular soap and household kitchen item.

Jamie explained in a YouTube video that she uses a stainless steel sieve to get the job done in a matter of seconds.

The social media star fills her sink with water, and adds Dr Bronner’s rose castile liquid soap, which she says does not cause any damage to brushes.

You can pick it up online here for €16.50.

Next, Jamie dips the brush in the water mixture. She then spins it around in the sieve and this removes any stubborn eyeshadow, powder, bronzer or foundation. The process literally takes a matter of seconds!

She explained: “This brush has really strong purple pigment on it. I’m going to dip it in the water and use the sieve, and look at that. It’s clean. Can you believe how quick it is? So that’s my hack.

“I’m pretty sure these (sieves) cost absolutely no money at all and it’s exactly the same thing I would use for baking. It’s really satisfying.”
