Electoral Commission drops phase one movement plan for upcoming voters’ registration exercise

The Electoral Commission (EC) has released the phase one movement plan for the upcoming voters register compilation which starts on Tuesday.

In a published roster of how the Commission intends to register voters, the first phase will be done in six days, from June 30 to July 5 in all mentioned areas.

The final phase will be carried out from August 1 to August 6.

The Supreme Court paved way for the compilation exercise after it disallowed the use of the existing voter ID cards as argued by the National Democratic Congress.

The EC venturing to compile a new register after it argued the current voter management system is at an end of life and that the current register is bloated.
